Final Report FIBO 2008
Biggest FIBO ever sets new records
Essen. With a new record in the number of exhibitors, contracts worth millions signed and a marked increase in visitor numbers, FIBO closed in Essen on Sunday. With a total of 47,300 visitors (previous year: 45,000), the organizers Reed Exhibitions Deutschland registered an increase of 5.1 percent as compared to last year. Totalling 476 companies (previous year 420 – plus 12.8%) from 35 countries, the number of exhibitors likewise reached a new record in the history of FIBO which started in 1985. |

FIBO INNOVATION AWARD 2008: the Winner
Suspense right up to the end: 60 applicants had entered this year’s race to win the much-coveted prize which again was awarded in three categories for the best new product development: the most innovative piece of training equipment, the most novel health promotion product and the best new sports nutrition product. In each category three products were nominated by an independent jury under the direction of TÜV Rheinland. “And the winner is…,“ was the motto on 11 April, when this year’s winners received their awards at the stand of the Innovation Forum. The “Fitness-Oscar“ once again was presented by FIT FOR FUN. The prominent laudatory speaker has been Ralf Moeller. |

FIBO 2008: Sportler laufen in der Höhenkammer für einen guten Zweck
Training für Rekordversuch auf dem Kilimanjaro
Essen. Extremsportler trainieren auf der FIBO 2008 für einen Weltrekordversuch: Claudia Weber und Thomas Wenning wollen vom 10. – 13. April auf der FIBO 2008 über 200 km in einer Höhenkammer zurücklegen. Die Sportler trainieren auf dem Laufband für ihren Rekordversuch im Dezember und tun dabei gleichzeitig Gutes. Unter Einsatz aufwändiger Technik mit Kompressoren wird in der Höhenkammer das Klima der Berge erzeugt: Der Sauerstoffgehalt der Luft wird reduziert. |

FIBO 2008: Rudern für die Welthungerhilfe
Essen. Der Startschuss für „Deutschland rudert“ findet nach dem erfolgreichen Start dieser Aktion im vergangenen Jahr nun auf der FIBO 2008 statt. Am 12. April, dem FIBO-Samstag, wird zwischen 10.00 und 15.00 Uhr für den guten Zweck gerudert. Die Einnahmen gehen vollständig an die Welthungerhilfe. |

Cycling Tour der Hoffnung -
Spendenaktion zugunsten krebskranker Kinder auf der FIBO 2008
Essen. Radfahren für den guten Zweck: Am FIBO-Freitag, den 11. April, findet um 13 Uhr die Cycling Tour der Hoffnung statt. Wie die „große“ Tour der Hoffnung, die einmal im Jahr durch Deutschland rollt, wird dieses Charity Event ebenfalls zugunsten krebskranker Kinder veranstaltet. Und dafür treten Unternehmen aus der gesamten Region gemeinsam in den FIBO Messehallen in die Pedale. Das Indoor–Rad-Event, das erstmalig auf der FIBO stattfindet, ist eine Spendenaktion zugunsten der Essener „Elterninitiative zur Unterstützung krebskranker Kinder e. V.“ Für eine stimmungsvolle Kulisse sorgen drei professionelle Presenter mit Musik. Der Erlös geht zu hundert Prozent an die Initiative. Der Eintritt zur FIBO ist für die Teilnehmer frei. |

FIBO 2008: Full of Energy and Action
Choreographies full of creative energy, the latest in training equipment and action-charged events for fitness coaches and instructors: FIBO takes a flying start. It has grown again compared to last year, again presenting itself larger and with more action and events than before.
Larger, better, more action: In 2008, FIBO is taking up where it left off in 2007, with a clearer structure, a better range and a larger number of more clearly defined products and services for different target groups. This is also true for coaches and instructors who find a range of products and services, enlarged and improved once again, particularly in Halls 5, 6, 8 and 9. |

New form, old size: FIBO extends surface area

Düsseldorf/Essen. FIBO will again grow bigger in 2008. With six months still to go until the start of the show, FIBO’s performance curve already shows a clear upward trend. After two years with growth rates in the double-digit range, FIBO 2008 will again increase its surface area. In order to cater for the growing demand for space, the leading international trade show for fitness and wellness will provide more exhibition space next year. In doing so, FIBO, for the first time in years, will present itself with its “old“ size but in a completely new form.
